How Do You Use Reiki?

June 24th, 2008

Do you use Reiki on your family, your loved ones, your pets, yourself, your car door when it will not open etc?

These are important questions. As you know Reiki can be used for a multitude of purposes. It can be used for extending the growth cycle of certain plants and all forms of general healing in plants and animals.

I would love to hear how you use Reiki.

Until next week

How Did You Come To Learn Reiki?

May 28th, 2008

Are you a Reiki practitioner? If you are, then what drew you to practice Reiki?

I started Reiki by “accident”, (that’s if you believe in accidents).

Back in 1995 my partner Noriko had just learnt Reiki 1, and began using it on her friends and the people around her. I must admit I was not very interested at the time. I kept avoiding her and “running away” whenever she would offer Reiki to me.

This went on for some time until we went on a trip to India in 1995. We were travelling between Delhi and Rishikesh by taxi when I asked the driver to stop for a toilet break. Eventually he stopped and by that time I was “busting”. After I had “finished my business” and was on my way back to the taxi I felt so relieved and relaxed that carelessly walked into the edge of a corrugated iron roof. At 6’2’’ I am much taller than most rural Indians and so doorways and roofs are lower than I am used to. The corrugated iron sliced my forehead. I did not feel the cut, but as I looked around I could see looks of horror on the faces of all the Indians around me. I was quite shaken after the incident.

Noriko and Pam (an Australian woman we travelling with - luckily she was a nurse!) grabbed me, put antiseptic cream on the cut and dressed it with a couple of band-aids.

As we continued to travel I was lying on the back seat on Noriko’s lap, and she was giving Reiki. I felt all the usual Reiki sensations such as feelings of movement and tingling and sometimes pain inside the wound. These sensations were all a new experience to me on that day. Eventually both of us became so relaxed we fell asleep.

Pam told me that the wound would have been sutured had I presented at an Australian hospital. Three days later when I removed the dressing the wound looked like a fine scratch. I was so amazed! I thought to myself “Maybe there is something to this Reiki stuff after all!” I admit I was a bit slow on the uptake, sometimes I need a good knock on the head to shake out the cobwebs!

A few days later we were flying from Delhi to Bangalore. Just out the front of Delhi airport my money belt fell open and everything fell on the ground. When I picked everything up my international plane tickets were gone. Therefore we had to wait in Bangalore for a couple of days to issued with new ones.

As we booked in the hotel in Bangalore we saw a sign in foyer saying “Reiki Masters Meeting Today”. Before this incident I would not have been interested in Reiki but now it was different. I said to Noriko “Let’s go and check it out!” She said “Maybe we shouldn’t disturb them.” I said “Let’s just see, they can only tell us to leave!”

Anyway we met the main Reiki teacher who was running the function and he was a really nice guy – an Australian/Chinese guy who grew up in Melbourne Australia, who was then living in Singapore and teaching in India! It was an interesting geographical mix.

Anyway the next day he was teaching Reiki 2. We came an hour earlier, he attuned us to Reiki 1, showed us basically what to do, and then we sat in on the Reiki 2 class. So much for studying Reiki 1 over 3 days!

We took Reiki home with us and began using it. Later we became professional Reiki practitioners.

How did you start learning Reiki? We would be interested to hear.
